Tick-borne disease risk
Invasive plants are often managed for their known ecological and economic impact. However, there are recent studies to support that they should also be managed because of their impact to public health. Due to changes in microclimate conditions, ticks can survive longer within invaded plant communities compared to native dominated communities, increasing the risk of tick-borne disease in invaded plant communities.
